Enter The Desired Height of Your Dog

Choose the widest acceptable range of how tall (at the shoulder) your dog should be by dragging one or both ends of the two-ended slider shown below so the range of height you want is under the colored part of the slider. The difference between choosing by general size and choosing by height, and by weight is... tell me more
Using general size takes into consideration both height and weight. Choosing specifically by height or weight evaluates these traits separately and gives different results. For example, choosing by height and weight makes it easier to select between the short squat Bulldog (14" tall) versus the tall (about 27") slender Afghan Hound both of which weigh about 55 pounds, or the Bulldog as opposed to the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel which is also about 14" tall but only weighs 15 pounds. Why is the height of dogs and other four footed animals usually measured at the top of the shoulder rather than the top of their head? The reason is the height of the front shoulder changes much less when the animal moves. For example, a dog's head automatically moves lower when it changes from a sitting to a standing position but the height at the top of the shoulder changes very little. Hide this information
