Dog Breed Trait Selections
STEP 1 - Check the box next to 4 to 6 of the traits most important for your dog to have. You can add more traits if you receive too many breed recommendations or reduce the number of traits if you do not receive enough recommendations to choose from. In the next step you will enter the amount you want of each trait you choose here. tell me more
There are two things that determine how many breed recommendations you receive. The first is the number of traits you choose. The second is the amount of each of these traits you want. Usually, the fewer traits and the greater the range in the amount of each trait you select, the more breed recommendations you will receive. Limiting the traits to only those most important to you is easy to understand; but lets discuss setting the amount of a trait. You choose how much of each trait you want by using a five point scale. At one end of the scale is the least amount of the trait and at the other the most of the trait available in a dog. Between these extremes are ratings of below average, average, and above average. Using this scale you can tell the breed selector exactly how much of any trait you want. For example, suppose you chose shedding as an important trait. Most people are interested in a dog that does not shed a lot. But if you choose a very narrow range that includes only the breeds that shed the least, you would eliminate all but a few breeds from being matched with the other traits you want. However, if you choose the wider range of least shedding, below average shedding, and average shedding, you will have a larger number of breeds found to use when looking for a match with the other traits that are important to you. If you find you have too large number of breed recommendations you can reduce the number by increasing the number of traits to use in your search or narrow the range of the traits you have chosen.
